Sign in with the same Apple Account on all devices and turn on “Simple Notes” under Settings → Apple Account → iCloud. Use the same kind of app everywhere – the App Store or TestFlight version on every device. The app shows the status under Settings → iCloud sync (including the iCloud environment). Notes created before sync was on can be uploaded there with “Upload all notes”.

In iOS Settings go to Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices and download a “Premium” or “Enhanced” voice. Simple Notes uses it automatically; in the app you can preview and switch voices under Settings → Voice.

Yes. On devices with Apple Intelligence, speech recognition, the assistant and “Revise” run entirely on device. Without Apple Intelligence, your dictation is saved directly as a note.

An optional extra for voice mode: under Settings → Cloud AI you pick a provider – Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Mistral, Grok, DeepSeek, Groq, OpenRouter or your own server such as Ollama – and enter your own API key. “Load models” checks the key and suggests a model. Cloud AI is off by default.

Directly from the provider, e.g. console.anthropic.com, platform.openai.com or aistudio.google.com. In the app, “Create an API key at …” takes you to the right page. The provider bills you directly; Simple Notes itself stays free.

Tap “Import PDF” in the sidebar – on Mac also via the “Import PDF …” menu item. Or open a PDF from the Files app with Simple Notes. Then write on it with Apple Pencil.

In Settings under “Look” – on Mac also via the “Switch Look …” menu item or ⌥⌘T. Your notes stay the same.

Delete notes in the app (they go to the trash first). To remove everything, delete the app and remove Simple Notes data under Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Storage.
